The Sports Investing Professional - Wednesday

Tuesday Recap - I am not sure what happened or HOW they
said that POWELL could have got a shot off in .01 seconds but
the bottom line is that they counted a basket after the WNBA
live feed posted the final 74-70. Would have been a nice winner
but the breaks didn't go our way and that cost us $850. It's funny
because you can go to the play by play and see for yourself at
WNBA.com that somehow this girl got off 2 shots in .5 seconds.
Even a miss and a put back takes longer than that. That's what
I mean by I hope the ball bounces your way!
I don't mind an occasional loss but I hate when I feel I had it
taken away. It almost seemed to me that since it wasn't going
to effect the outcome of the game that they just counted it. They'll
do anything to improve the league scoring average.

I want to take this time to straighten a few things out with everyone right
from the get go. In basketball I told you yesterday I hate
"5" and really if you talk to some of the researchers that I have,
they'll tell you that 4,5,and 6 are a garbage numbers in pro baskets.

So to clarify....
I posted to this Blog last night but the Blog does not get emailed
until about 10am eastern. By then the line was already -6 or -5.5.
A few emailers asked..."Should I just buy 1.5 and take it down to
-4.5 like on the original post" My answer was the same today
as it will be any time. "NO! You will be best served buying the
3 points and taking it as low as you can get it." So for future
reference if I recommend a point buy and the line shifts a few
points between my entry and you receiving it...ESPECIALLY
in a situation like today where it helped us get a better line but
unfortunately did not help us get the win... FYI always buy the
recommended amount of points.

Second order of biz. On days like yesterday where the line
is very different when you receive the email or feed than when
I made the post.....check back on the blog to see if I make an
update. The reason I say check back is because the email that
goes out is automated. I don't physically send it. I know what
time it goes out but if I update the blog, the computer will NOT
send you an email update. I don't know if that is different for those
who get the RSS feed or any other methods but for email...the
computer sends once per day. I'm not talking about checking
the blog all day up until game time or anything like that. Yesterday,
for example, I made an update about 8 hours prior to tip. That's
the type of thing I'm talking about. If the lines are off just email me
or check the blog sometime in the afternoon to see if I've made any
update to it.

Today's Play(s) - We do have one play today. With the Red Sox
blowing a 9 run lead there will be no better person than a pissed
off Beckett to have on the bump. In 4 of his last 5 he's given up
0 Earned Runs. If there was any chance of a let down in his
performance it was greatly reduced by the exploding bullpen
last night.

The Sports Investing Professional - Tuesday

Monday Recap - Another very nice day and it basically went
as I thought it would. The Indians had NO SHOT at getting to
Floyd and Florida would find a way to win. I thought the
Marlins game might be close because when you beat a team
6 straight like they had done to the Nats...personal pride had
to come into play for Washington but this is a bottom line biz and
our bottom line just got a thousand dollars richer with our 2-0
start to the week.

For today I do have one game that is worth an investment.
That's the good news...the news that will make some of you laugh
is that today's best investment comes via the WNBA. You don't
need glasses and that's not a typo. Today we're looking at the
Chicago Sky. A Solid team facing a Sacramento team that is
real bad on the road. As much as I like the Sky in this spot,
-7.5 is a bullshit line in pro basketball....mens or womens.
It might as well be 10 because that's the type of game you need
when you lay that number.

Now, I am a believer in using point buys. Some of you may not be.
Do you know why the Las Vegas Strip casinos only let you buy 1 point
and won't let you buy off or on 3? There was an extensive
study done on the VALUE of buying points and what it's actually
worth. The results....buying 1 point is not even worth the -130 you're
going to pay for it and that's why the Vegas books will let you
buy 1 all day because in the long run it actually improves their
bottom line. On the other side, buying 3 points in an NBA game
when the favorite is between -4 and -12.5 is actually WORTH
-190. So when you go to a book who will give you -170 on a
three point buy guess what....you've got 20 cents of VALUE built in.
That's why a lot of books will give you a 2 pt buy for -150 but 3 points
will cost you -190.

Take it for what it's worth. Some of you will always be against it
and others will be for it but I can only go by my own bottom line
and it says that staying on -7.5 in this game is bad news. The Sky
have won all their home games but are 2-2 ATS. Both non-covers
were by 1.5 points I believe. Since I see this as a tricky number
I'm taking a full 3 point buy here and going to -4.5. With
Sacramento giving up 82 points per game on the road it shouldn't
matter but if it's tight and a free throw war breaks out I want to
be laying less than 5 and I'm more than willing to lay the -170 to
do it. Sometimes that's just the price of doing business.

***UPDATE NOON EASTERN - I WAS NOT ABLE TO PLACE MY WAGER LAST NIGHT AS THE BOOKS I USE OFF SHORE, BET JAMAICA AND DIAMOND SPORTS HAD THE GAME OFF THE BOARD. THIS MORNING THE LINE HAS FALLEN QUITE A BIT SO MOST OF YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT THIS GAME AT ABOUT -6 OR LESS AND WITH THE 3 PT BUY AT -3 OR LESS

WNBA - CHICAGO SKY -2.5 -170 [3 Point Buy} 850 / 500

The Sports Investing Professional - Monday

Sunday Recap - Players today really amaze me. Just so
you understand....I'm not that old. About 15 years ago
I was playing college baseball. The thing is that if I was
Robinson Cano, I would be man enough to take my own
life right in the showers. I'd be like "Sid" from An Officer
and a Gentleman...swinging by my own belt. We lost
Sunday and I'm actually not that upset about it because
I learned a lot about the Yankees that is going to help me
if they happen to make the playoffs. Cano stranded at
least 10 guys and Texeria....he's just as bad and he's the
one that makes me think about the difference between
the players today and say 20 years ago. Back then even
the 3 or 4 hitter would make an adjustment when they
had 2 strikes to just get the ball in play and see what happens.
Texeria had the bases loaded and 2 strikes and didn't
do a damn thing different. Guys like him could give a shit
if they strike out or not...strikeouts are acceptable now
if you put up the other numbers. Players used to be
embarassed to strike out. Not anymore. That brings
me to my point about the Yankees. Watching tonight and
doing some research on their season...yes they are 2nd
in runs scored but when they don't hit home runs...they
have trouble scoring because they are AWFUL at
manufacturing runs. Teams like that are GREAT fades
in the playoffs. Playoff baseball is all about the pitching so
here is hoping they make it so we can pound away at
the sportsbooks by fading them. Otherwise...well we
lost one...losing sucks.

For today we actually are going to have 2 plays. First
we'll look to the Marlins. They have OWNED the Nats
this year and in some ways that concerns me because
it's tough to beat a team 7,8,9 in a row but Nolasco has
been so tough lately and the Marlins just seem to
light up the Nat's pitchers...I just cant resist. The second
play is the Chicago White Sox. It's really a a tale of two
teams. Cleveland has been getting beat by NL teams which
is criminal and combine that with the fact that Gavin Floyd
might be the A.L's hottest pitcher in his last 4-5 starts while
Pavano, after some early season success is fading back a bit.

Let's go 2-0 today!

Saturday Recap -All is well that ends well. The Nats did about what
I expected from them but Baltimore had some trouble with Martis.
In reality, we could have been down big in the first inning when Guthrie
decided to turn the game into the march of dimes just walking in run
after run. Regardless of the ups and downs the bottom line for us
is another day and another winner!

For Sunday, just one play on the board. I looked and ran numbers
and considered Washington for the first 5 innings but in the end
I think there is only one play worth the investment. NYY / NYM
OVER 10. I also considered the Mets for a variety of reasons
even beyond the fact that Wang is like a batting practice machine.
If you have a 10+ ERA you should have to take the mound in a
clown suit.....big red nose and all. The problem with the Mets is
that Hernandez is a gas can in his own right and you can't even
trust him to keep the Yanks in single digits. So instead of throwing
a dart at the side lets just watch the fireworks and know there is
a pretty good shot that one of these two gets completely torched.

The Sports Investing Professional - Saturday

Fridays Recap - Another great day for us picking up a dime
on 2 easy winners. There is no better feeling than having both
of our games put away by the 5th even with todays horrific bullpens.
Like I said, sometimes laying the juice is uncomfortable but
it's only vig if you lose.

For Saturday just one play on the board. There were a few
totals that might have been worth it but like I've said from the
beginning I'm only interested in what in my estimation is the best
investment opportunity of the day and that takes us right
back to Baltimore. Martis and Guthrie have similar ERA's but
Guthrie has been better lately. Besides, it's the Batimore
offense at home that I'm liking most. Even if Washington gets
5 or 6 it's tough to run the numbers and not see Baltimore near
or into double digits again.

The Sports Investing Professional - Friday

A quick little aside to answer a few questions that
have come my way.

First, to clarify, I WAS a top level handicapper for a
very big company. I made the people there a lot of money
and I obviously play my own selections. My contract
was up and I decided NOT to renew. I love everything
about preparing for each day I just didn't really like the
way MY information was being sold so I chose to walk and
agreed that I wouldn't start my own handicapping business.

Thank you very much to the good people at Sports Investment
Group who gave me the idea and helped me set up this blog.
I'm not starting a handicapping business because all of my info
is FREE right here on this very blog and if people choose to
share some of their good fortune with me it would be rude
not to accept.

Now, no more questions about who and where because I'm
not going to get into any of that. It's in the past and Mike
Ditka once said that "People who live in the past are Cowards
and Losers" He's right. what matters is that those of you
following are a solid 2-0 since this venture kicked off and
are winning money. That's what this is all about!!

Yesterdays Recap - Not much to recap. I told everyone that
Washburn would give up 2 or 3 and that the Mariners would
put up at least 6. All of the above happened and the bottom
line was a very easy $500 added to our Positive Bankroll.

For today, I'd like to be this incredible genius who gives you
these amazing underdog picks that rock the betting world
but in reality it's my job to find myself and now all of the followers
the BEST investment opportunities available on that day.
Today we have 2 chalks. Reality is a bitch.

1. Texas -220....this is a very very high price for me and I normally
wouldn't bet it straight....I would tie it up with another pick in a
time zoned parlay. Problem is that the central time zone games
don't allow the early ones to end or the late ones to start so I'm left
with a big fat lay. The facts are the Millwood has been great and
San Diego has been horrible on the road. Should make for a big
time winner

2. Baltimore -150....Washington got it's win for the week last night.
Seriously, the Orioles hit .350+ at home and the Nats have one
of their weaker starters and that should be a ticket for at least 7
Orioles to cross the plate.

The Sports Investing Professional - Thursday

Yesterday was a nice easy day. The Red Sox went up 6-1 and basically
coasted to a 6-4 win putting us up $500 to the good. I did get some questions
from a few people wondering about how many games a day I pick.

Honestly, it just depends on the games but I'm not looking to bet a ton
of games. I'm looking to bet more on fewer games.

Today we have just one game again and unfortunately it's a big favorite again.
I wish that weren't the case but in interleague we'll take our mismatches and
be happy. We're going with Seattle -180 for today (Thursday). San Diego is
awful on the road with an inexperienced starter going against the consistent
but not spectacular Washburn. Seattle gives up 2-4 but should score 6+ and
this looks to me like the best investment of the day! Go Listed Pitchers today
to be sure you get LeBlanc for San Diego.

The Sports Investing Professional - Wednesday

Interleague can really be such a pain in the ass if you let it.

However, I'm here to tell you that some of your easiest investment opportunities will come during interleague play. It's true that the dogs have had the run of it this year but overall
you can still get some nice opportunity.

Hello, I am the Sports Investing Professional. I play these games for a living. I used to
handicap games for a good sized outfit but I CHOSE NOT TO RENEW my contract because
I didn't like how my work was being sold. So now I can write whatever I want and do as I please with my information. I don't know if anyone will even read but if they do.....they'll make money.

Let me clue everyone in on a little secret....There is no GAME OF THE....YEAR, MONTH, WEEK, or LOCKS. The only lock in sports is the one on the gate. Services use that method to get you
to buy certainty in an uncertain world. Am I right? You have your mortgage payment in your hand when "chip" your friendly guy from the capping service calls you with that LOCK. Well he knows you're not going to rip that check up and send money to him if you aren't CERTAIN you're going to win. Problem is that he's probably selling both sides of the game and could give a shit if you win.

Do I care if you win? Well....yes or why would I be writing. Like anyone my time is worth money so I'll be adding relevant material to this blog like possibly google ads or a link for donations....yes if you win a lot of money I have no problem what so ever with accepting a little sign of your appreciation.

I'm only looking for the best investment opportunities of the day. I won't have plays every day.
Sometimes I'm on the -190 favorite and sometimes the +150 dog....it all depends on the value that the play represents. Often times I'll use time zoned parlays if I want to play teams but don't want to lay big numbers. There are plenty of weapons in the battle vs the BOOK! Now lets get to work making money!

Like I said prior, interleague can be a bitch. Today I'm really locked in on just one game.

BOSTON at WASHINGTON
BOSTON -180

This game fits about 4 different sets of quality criteria. Does that mean it's automatically going to win? Of course not. However, when you look at the other matchups this one presents the worst team in the league vs one of the best and that one of the best teams has one of it's top 2 pitchers on the mound. Not a big fan of laying big wood but today we have no choice.
